Homesteads, Identity, and Urbanization of Migrant Workers

چکیده
The key to advancing urbanization is promote the urban integration of numerous migrant workers. Two stages decision making are involved for workers, including residence (staying in cities) and settlement (transferring hukou into cities). homestead a necessity workers keep their “peasant” status, which will further affect workers’ identification with cities influence towards urbanization. This paper uses data from 2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey (CMDS), through coarsened exact matching (CEM) method analysis mediation effects, estimate how homesteads intention sense identity serves as mediator variable this mechanism. Empirical results show that ownership negatively correlated intention. Migrant 1.2% less likely stay 4.4% settle down compared counterparts who do not have homestead.
